Follow up for the ongoing story (Wise County Accident, see below) I had been blogging about.
After reading this, would YOU want to donate money for a scholarship in this boy's name? If so, doesn't the whole thing just tear you up? Lowe didn't have a brain in his head apparently and too many contributing factors helped him and all his .... friends get themselves in life altering trouble when they REPEATEDLY LET THE BOY DRIVE AND HE WAS COMPLETELY DRUNK.
How can our children be so stupid? How will we ever be able to raise them right so they can live past the age of 18 and not end up in jail, pregnant too early, etc..? How do we teach them that an idiot who doesn't care about anything (apparently) and sells minors alcohol is a toxin in our society? How would good parents like very few of us protect our children from other children whose parents who are raising monsters that grow up just like their rude, ignorant, inconsiderate, careless selves? How can we populate our world with decent citizens, and possibly phase out the ignorance so things like this don't happen so often?
In this situation, if I were one of the other kids in the car, I would hope that I had a good enough relationship (or whatever) with my parents to stop somewhere, get out of the car, and call my parents to get me, even though I'm not where I said I would be that night.
I'd pay for my mistakes for a few days probably, but I wouldn't have to pay for it with my life.
All the people (parents, convenience store worker, 21 year-old partial-enabler) in this story who contributed to the deaths of 2 teens and paralyzing another: I hope this haunts you for the rest of your life.
Then again, all of this...... It happens for a reason.
