Street Renamings.. It's The Cool Thing To Do

"Industrial Boulevard" is such a gloomy, un-hip name.

So Dallas has to rename it. Because pretty soon, all the culture and history of this area will all be forgotten when this "Trinity Corridor" project sweeps everything away to make nice places for the rich folk.

But on the news tonight, I saw someone at a meeting about the renaming speak about endorsing Stevie Ray Vaughan Boulevard.

"HELL YES!!" I shouted with a mouth full of taco.

A lot of people think of Austin when they hear an SRV reference because SRV was popular on the show/performance of Austin City Limits. But what a lot of people don't know is that SRV grew up in Dallas, Oak Cliff to be exact. Industrial Blvd is relatively close to the Oak Cliff area.

That would be SO COOL, right?!?!

Yes, in the years from now when "Riverfront Blvd" (LAME!) is the new "Uptown" the rich folk won't have that much of a clue who SRV is/was.

Needless to say SRV Blvd didn't make it into the top list of considerations.

Boo.
