We are so vain.
All I see on TV is commercials for some anti-aging goo to put on your face, eyes, neck, boobs, or all over the body. But most of it is for the face. That's good, you're 30 on the face, 70 from the neck down.
Then, yesterday, I see this news story (Channel 5 is NOTORIOUS to me for always having at least 1 story each news cast for 1. Stop aging, or 2. Stop being fat) about a machine that will show you how you will look if you keep smoking or don't work out and don't eat right.
I'm sure that will have an impact on a lot of people. They want to look 25 forever! Well go ahead, but I think there's something else we should show them.
How about a picture of a nasty lung that's caught smoke for years? Maybe a picture of someone who is short of breath, has to carry around an oxygen tank, who's quality of life has dwindled. How about someone who has become quite overweight, to where they can't walk far enough to shop or enjoy life. Scenes from an artery cath surgery. Photos of an open heart surgery. Things like that.
But, no, it's only how young we look on the outside.
We're too stressed anyway for any of the anti-aging goo to work anyway. Years of work and worry, long nights, years of partying, tons of unneeded drama. You can smear on as much creams as you can and wash your hair with anti-aging shampoo, but you can't hide that, "God, she looks horrible" look that people see when you've spent your life being unhappy.
Just let yourself age! Who said it was a crime or certain death to let mother nature take it's course (like she has for a billion trillion years) and let some wrinkles show up! It shows you've smiled, it shows you've frowned. It's shown you've lived.
We don't like young people these days anyway. I think looking old should be cool.
But I like being different!!
Peace.
