I realized today, driving my brand new little Kia that I wasn't like that, even though I used to drive a Ford F150.
I do not recall complaining how high gas was getting. I only speculated how much people must be spending. I watched as people continued to refuse to cut down on driving. Me, most of my weekends were spent at home. I don't need to go anywhere that bad. But I'm not staying home because gas is too high.
No, I never complained about how gas is so freakin' high and it's taking all my paycheck, then turn around and go to Austin or God knows where for a vacation.
I do not recall thinking, "Gosh, gas is killing us. This truck eats money like crazy." I just recall putting gas in it a lot.
I bought my truck when gas was getting up to $3.00 a gallon. That's still a lot. That's right, I bought it anyway. Call me crazy, but I didn't buy it, then turn around and cry about how high gas was.
I'm going to school, a truck would cost a lot of money in gas, on top of all the other expenses of college. I don't need a truck, it's impractical. We traded it in for the Kia. I love my little car.
I gave a little "Woo" when we filled it's little tank today for a mere $43. The truck would cost over $60 to fill.
And that little "Woo" is the only emotion I've truly felt with rising gas prices.
I know gas is high, it is pretty ridiculous. But so is the way people act about it. So hypocritical. There are those of us who do something about it if we can though. Those of us who got little cars with gas mileage over 30/mpg on the highway. Or those of us who simply made some cuts on gas use.
Then there are those who go out and buy brand new trucks and SUVs.... next thing you know they're on the 6 o'clock news whining about how much they have to spend on gas.
Well.. DUH!!!!
