Rock Goes Soft

“Hard” and “edgy” bands once regarded as such are now getting a bit soft.

Has anyone else noticed this?

For example, I became a fan of My Chemical Romance (MCR, MyChem, etc) upon the release of their second album, “Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge” and the song “Helena.” LOVED it, still do. I also came into possession of their first cd, “I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love.” Upon listening to selections from that cd, it was then that I realized MCR was going soft into their 2nd release and DEFINITELY a bit more soft for their 3rd release, “The Black Parade.”

I’M NOT COMPLAINING. I think I like “TBP” more than the others.

What’s causing this? It’s like, weird.

Other bands who I’ve noticed get a little soft are:
Papa Roach (What? He can sing?)
Seether (When deciding whether to purchase their latest album, I noticed their older stuff was a bit harder than the new.)
Buckcherry (Go from “Crazy Bitch” to “Sorry” about it.)
….and there’s probably more.

Another band that I’ve heard from other people that they used to be a little more “Scremo” before and are not screaming as much anymore is Avenged Sevenfold. I’m not too familiar with them, it’s just a rumor I heard that relates to this post.

So there you have it. What’s the conspiracy here? Give me a day to think about it and I might have an answer.

It’s Friday!! I hope I can keep everything square and not create any worries to worry about over the weekend!!

Peace.
