A very long time ago (or so it seems), I got Mariah Carey's first album on tape. I loved it. I had seen her videos. She was so ordinary and talented. I appreciated that.
I was born in 1982, and after thinking REALLY HARD, Mariah Carey was the only person I could think of that actually might have remotely been my role model. But I honestly can't say I ever wanted to BE someone.
The other day, I tried REALLY hard to come up with someone that might be a good role model for girls. The only person I could think of was Tyra Banks, and then again, I don't know EVERYTHING about her. Yet I know she's not skinny (not anymore at least) and has curves and is proud of that. She doesn't support girls "partying" like idiots and being promiscuous. She's a woman who was raised right, like me.
Britney Spears was thought to be a role model early on (no one would dream of it these days), but with the introduction of "naughty school girl" into history, wasn't it obvious things would go down hill.
Barbie can't be a role model anymore. She's too skinny and looks more and more like a whore every year.
Lindsay Lohan.. forget it.
Paris Hilton.. of course not!
Jessica Simpson.. not good in the neighborhood of decreasing the divorce rate.
I can think of a couple porn stars that might make a decent role model, as tragic as that is. Jenna Jameson is a beautiful, intelligent businesswoman. However, she does have a past that can be argued. But who doesn't? Still love her! <--my personal opinion, so what?
